Mia Lamp: A Perfect Balance of Lightness and Strength

Mia Lamp is a table lamp that combines art, design, and functionality. Its transparent Plexiglas frame allows light to penetrate and create a special lighting effect of suspension. The lampshade, made entirely by hand with a chromatic sequence of Plexiglas rings, adds a lively and sunny character to Mia Lamp. The light passing through the lampshade enhances each chromatic identity, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

MIA is crafted using cast Plexiglas (Pmma) sheets of different thickness and color. The components, including the bulb support and ring lampshade, are meticulously assembled by hand. The lamp's base has a diameter of 194 mm and a height of 285 mm, while the lampshade measures 140 mm in diameter and 180 mm in height. The total height of the lamp is 332 mm.

What sets Mia Lamp apart is its versatility. It can be used as a desk lamp, a bedside table lamp, or as a decorative piece in a living area. The lampshade, available in various colors and finishes, can be easily replaced to create different atmospheres. Simply pull the cylinder on the support upwards to change the lampshade.

The design process for Mia Lamp began in March 2018 in Bari and was completed in August 2018. It was presented at the Hand Made - International exhibition of self-produced design, within the 82nd edition of the Fiera del Levante Bari. The lamp received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative features.

Tommaso Petrillo, the designer behind Mia Lamp, conducted extensive research on materials, light refraction, and shape balance. Through experiments and collaborations with artisans, he achieved the desired diffusion of light and the perfect combination of color and translucency. The final result exceeded the designer's expectations and satisfied both him and his clients.
